SUMMERY:

For this tutorial I want to show you how to insert a Tempo change in your session.

Okay so let's say your getting your click track set up and the main tempo of the song is 177bpm but you know that somewhere in the song the tempo is going to change.

How do we set this up?

In your Edit Window, look to the top left of the screen. You should see some menus that say Bars/Beats, Min:Secs, Tempo etc. If you don't then you simply need to just pull them down. To do this just look at the arrow next to Bars/Beats and click Tempo. Now click the arrow sign in the Tempo Menu.

It should look like this:

Now that you have done this find the place in your song where you want to insert your Tempo Change. Make sure you are in Grid Mode and click on the bar in the Tempo Window where you want to make the change happen. Now click on the + sign in the Tempo Menu.

In the window you can now choose to enter your new tempo, choose which Notes you want your click track to play in and you can also choose whether or not to Snap To Bar. It's usually best to keep this checked but if your trying to set up a click track to something that was already recorded without a click then it would probably make sense to uncheck this.

Once you have set up your new tempo change to your liking just hit ok. Now all you got to do is repeat these steps when your song changes back to it's original tempo.

Another cool thing you can do is gradually change the tempo. You can set it up so the click track slowly speeds up and down if your working on a song that has a section like that. All you got to do is open the Tempo menu back up but instead of clicking on the + sign to add the change we need to select the line Tool.

Now just find the bar where you want it to either slow down or speed up and click and drag it to the bar where it will stop.

If you haven't landed on the exact number/tempo you wanted it to be don't worry. All you got to do is select the grab tool and double click on the last icon to open up the Tempo Window.

That's it for this tutorial.
